MARTHA PIETRO

After spending 27 years in the ever-changing world of Jr. High-14 years in public school and 13 years at First Baptist School-I am excited to begin another year at First Baptist School as Head of School. Always a teacher at heart, I love being out and about in all of the rooms from the Wee 3’s to the 8th grade. I also have the privilege of sharing God’s love and wisdom with our students through leading Chapel. It is such a blessing to be able to see our children excel academically, emotionally, and socially!

In my tenure here, I have seen our school grow from one Wee 3 class to a school of 140 students. This year our theme is “Be the Light.” It is our desire at FBS to be the BRIGHT light that will break through the darkness and will draw others to Christ. This year it is our goal to raise the bar in every aspect of our school. We truly want to train our children to be representatives of God that will impact the world for Christ.

As a teacher and Head of School, I want our students to be living proof of Philippians 4:13 which tells us that, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. David stated in 2 Samuel 22:2-3, “The Lord is my rock, and my fortress,. . .my shield,. . .my high tower”. God is truly our firm foundation. James 4:8 says, “If we draw near to God; God will draw near to us.” How powerful are these words of truth!

The Bible has always played an important role in my life; it has been my roadmap. It has guided me throughout my journey and will continue to guide me until I join those who have gone before me in Heaven.

Away from school, I love being “Nana” to 3 beautiful grandchildren. I have the privilege of having one grandchild live with me and so the legacy that started long ago continues. I love reading, painting, chocolate, swimming, the beach, the mountains, children, and animals.

Life is too short to miss the blessings in each day. As I lead this year’s staff, it is our prayer that the words that Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 1:6-7 would encompass our staff, “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control”. May this be the year that God, our Father, ignites a fire that cannot be extinguished, so that we may truly make a difference in the lives of the families that we are here to serve.
Thank you for allowing me the honor of serving at FBS as Head of School.
