KIM EASTERLING
I have been blessed to be a part of the FBS family since 2013. As I reflect back over the years, I think of all the precious students, supportive families, and loving coworkers that I have had the opportunity to know along the way. Since I joined the FBS team, I have worn many hats. I started out as a substitute teacher, then I was hired full time as a teacher’s aide. I worked as an aide for many years under some amazing teachers. I have worked with kindergarten, first grade, second grade, as well as, wee threes and after school care. I loved working here so much that I decided to go back to college to get my degree and certification.
I was born in Mississippi and lived there most of my life. After I graduated high school, I attended a small Christian College and earned an Associates of Arts degree. I decided to further my education at a university, but did not complete my degree. It was my lifelong dream to go back to college and become a teacher, and with the support of my family and my friends at FBS, I went back to school in 2017 while working here full time.
Since FBS is an accredited school, I was able to complete my student teaching here while working full time. I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2020 and became a certified teacher in Early Childhood through sixth grade. I also graduated with endorsements in reading and social studies for grades K-12. I have taught first grade for the past three school years, and this year I am teaching second grade.
I am a single mom with one daughter. She attended FBS from preschool through 8th grade. She is now a senior, and I am so thankful for the foundation she received at FBS. She still speaks fondly of the FBS teachers that made such a Godly impact on her life. She is the main reason I decided to go back to college. I wanted to set a good example for her and show her that you can do anything you put your mind to with God’s help.
I love spending time with my sweet daughter. We like watching movies, shopping, relaxing with our favorite candles burning, and when we are on the go, we enjoy grabbing a Chick-fil-A meal or caramel frappe from McDonalds.
I am looking forward to the new school year, and I cannot wait to see all the wonderful things God has planned for us this year. I have been a Christian since I was fourteen years old. Since that time, Jesus has been the anchor of my soul. My relationship with God is my sure foundation. I teach my students that the Bible is the most important book they will ever read, and it is the standard we should live our life by. God is faithful and His words are true. One of my favorite verses is Acts 17:28, “For in Him we live and move and have our being.”
